To call yourself a conservative, yet at the same time declare that “100% renewable energy is impossible”—effectively setting an expiration date for humanity—is extremely twisted. The transience of the human body has led to a great deal of confusion about what “conservative” means. Surprise, surprise—being conservative means preserving something. But the confused conservatives have turned this into widespread destruction caused by fossil fuels. If life expectancy were 800 years instead of 80, the conservatives would be urgently calling for a return to 100% renewable energy—but with the much better options offered by modern technology. It’s truly amazing what we’ve achieved with fossil fuels over the past two centuries, but we’d be better off thinking of fossil fuels as something like an egg yolk for a bird embryo: energy available in the short term to fuel development until hatching. Fossil fuels are as finite as an egg yolk. What three weeks in an egg is to a chicken, two centuries of fossil fuel use should be, at most, to a civilization.
  The 100% Renewable Energy Deniers
Anyone who denies the possibility of 100% renewable energy is not a conservative. Being conservative means preserving something. But denying the possibility of 100% renewable energy means setting a clear expiration date for humanity: once all fossil fuels and fissile materials are depleted, renewable energy won’t be enough, and humanity will be doomed. This means that two groups of misanthropes are pitted against each other: one group believes in drastically reducing the human population—saving, cutting back, and doing without—while the other group believes in squandering everything, with a "after me, the deluge" attitude. While these completely insane groups were at war with one another, China was able to establish itself as the market leader in all future technologies.
  Renovation of Older Homes
What is being renovated? Mostly houses from a time when radiant floor heating was not yet common. The radiators were designed for oil or gas heating systems without condensing technology, meaning they were built to handle very high temperatures at the radiator. To make the heating system compatible with a heat pump, the radiators are therefore replaced with more efficient ones that can operate at a significantly lower flow temperature. Why not switch to underfloor heating? Because retrofitting underfloor heating is a costly nightmare for residents. The entire room must be completely cleared out. Depending on the installation method, the room will be unusable for days or even weeks. This effort isn’t offset by a higher coefficient of performance from a heat pump. Conventional wall-mounted heating is somewhat easier to install, but there isn’t much of a difference.
  Wall Heating with Air
A typical installation scenario: there’s a wall with a window in the middle. There’s a radiator beneath the window. The pipes that supply heat to the radiator are already in place right there. Wooden strips 3 cm high are attached to the wall. A 9.5 mm sheet of drywall is then installed on top of them. This covers the entire wall surface, except for a small section directly below the window. That’s where the wall-mounted heating system goes. The system includes heat exchangers and fans. Example: A wall 3.6 m wide and 2.5 m high. In the center is a 1.6 m wide window (light blue). Of course, this is much more expensive than replacing the radiators, but it’s a bargain compared to conventional floor or wall heating. The flow temperature drops to just below the requirements for underfloor heating with 10 cm pipe spacing.

  • Lower utility bills for peak performance: Even at –5 °C, an air-source heat pump can easily consume 1.5–2.5 kW more electricity when used with traditional radiators than with this low-temperature-capable wall-mounted heating system—especially when supplemented by an electric heating element
If the homeowner believes that cooling is a must in the summer, then the air-wall heating system is the most affordable option.
  Floor, Wall, and Ceiling Heating in the GEMINI House
That was the plan from the very beginning. The design using water turned out to be too expensive, so we switched to air at the end of February 2025. Now we have a nearly complete shopping list and specific figures. The only thing still missing is the Wi-Fi-controlled power supply with adjustable PWM (pulse-width modulation) for powering and controlling the fans. The planning of the “Old House Renovation” product line thus results in concrete plans for another key component of the GEMINI House.
