Concept Demonstrator - EWG - Energy-Warmth-Garage

Demonstrate key concepts of the GEMINI House in a much smaller project. This isn't about large quantities; it's about a demonstrator for the GEMINI House.

What can be done about the exorbitant grid fees charged based on measured 1⁄4-hour peak power in Upper Austria, Lower Austria, Styria, and especially Burgenland? These grid fees are specifically aimed at electric cars. Instead of being happy that, when there is a surplus of solar power and spot market prices are zero or negative, as many people as possible are charging their electric cars at 11 kW, this very behavior is being heavily penalized. If you happily charge your electric car at 11 kW after switching to one, this results in an additional €825 in grid fees per year in Burgenland. Of course, the perfect solution is a GEMINI house with a GEMINI garage. With a 53 kWp solar array and a 160 kWh battery, the grid connection is used solely for selling excess electricity. But couldn’t you start on a slightly smaller scale? The answer is the Energy-Warmth-Garage.

  The Physics Behind It
A typical 12 kW air-source heat pump draws air through a cross-sectional area of only 0.4 m². Both the garage and the GEMINI house will have a very large air heat exchanger with a cross-sectional area of 2.5 m². The same volume of air can be drawn through these units at a significantly lower velocity. The noise level is calculated using the formula 50 × log₁₀(S1/S2) 10 × log₁₀(A1/A2).
Product Standard LWP Integrated
Airflow cross-sectional area (m²) 0.4 2.5
Air m/sec 4 1.1
Air volume m³/sec 1.60 2.75
Noise Reduction Standard -20 dB
What does a 20 dB reduction in noise sound like? It’s as if the distance to the noise source had increased tenfold—for example, from 10 m to 100 m. These are levels that can only be achieved with a building-integrated solution.
  From 2018 to the present
Even in the predecessor project to the GEMINI House, the Faistenau 2018 Project, there was a heat storage system in the sloped roof areas, where it no longer made sense to use the space for anything else. This evolved into the low-temperature heat storage system in the GEMINI House. The GEMINI house was designed to include two pool-type air-source heat pumps to heat the low-temperature thermal storage tank. Why two? For redundancy, with only slightly more effort than installing a single large unit. Why 2 × 17 kW? Because only about half of the capacity can be utilized at a reasonable coefficient of performance. This is a clear indication that the air heat exchanger is significantly undersized. Here are the technical specifications for the pool heat pump from the 2021 Proof of Concept phase.
  Maximum Minimum
A26° W26° Heating capacity kW 17.15 3.88
A26° W26° kW Electricity 2.64 0.24
A26° W26° Coefficient of Performance 6.98 15.96
A15° W26° Heating capacity kW 12.78 2.89
A15° W26° kW Electricity 2.57 0.38
A15° W26° Coefficient of Performance 4.98 7.63
“And once we sell the GEMINI houses, we’ll have a reasonably sized air-source heat pump developed.” That’s been the plan since 2020. Now we’re simply combining two water-source heat pumps with a very generously sized air heat exchanger.
  Renovation with EWG
If you're renovating your home and have enough space for a double garage, then EWG is the ideal solution. Build the garage and bury a well-insulated pipe for heating water and hot water to the house. “If there is enough space for a double garage” naturally represents a significant market limitation, but this isn’t about large production volumes—it’s about a concept demonstrator for the GEMINI House.

  Who are we? Our shareholders
Who are we? Our shareholders.” I ask all of our existing shareholders—and, hopefully, many new ones soon—to contribute posts like this.
  Recruit new shareholders
So far, only 2% of our shareholders have become shareholders themselves by referring new shareholders. That number should increase significantly in the future. The offer is 10% of the purchased shares for a direct referral and 5% for an assist. I understand the term “assist” in the same way as in soccer: whoever passes the ball to the goal scorer has made an assist.
